MADE FOR THE FLOORFor stores and small warehouses that count a rotating set of locations instead of stopping for a full stocktake.
A USEFUL STARTING POINT
A cycle count is a snapshot, taken at a time
Stock keeps moving while you count. CountBench records when the stock snapshot was taken and when each entry was counted, and shows which planned locations are counted, uncounted or still have scans to review. It records what was physically present when you looked; it does not track movements between counts.
FROM QUESTION TO EVIDENCE
Three steps to a useful result.
- 01
Choose today's locations
Import the expected stock for the locations you plan to count, or start a quick count. Anything counted outside today's plan is reported as outside the plan, not mixed in.
- 02
Count and recount
Count each location in turn. A recount is a separate pass: the earlier total stays visible until you accept the new one, and the two are never added together.
- 03
Finish with clear coverage
Finish count shows anything uncounted or unresolved. Fix it, or close the count as incomplete with a reason, then download the results, a PDF report and a ticket for each location.
A CONCRETE EXAMPLECoverage you can state honestly
Ten locations are planned and nine are counted. Finishing the count shows the remaining location as uncounted. Close it as incomplete with a reason, and the results, report and tickets all say Incomplete. A quick count with no plan is marked Unplanned scope, because CountBench cannot tell whether the whole area was covered.
USED IN PRODUCTION
From a careful count to a stocked line.
CountBench checks what is on the shelf at a point in time. Two SmartFACT services handle work that repeats every day: refilling production locations from stores, and checking what goes into each kit. Both are in early access, with scope agreed at onboarding.
RefillFlow
Keeping the line stocked between counts is a different job. Scan an empty container and RefillFlow sends the right refill request to stores, prints the ticket there and tracks it to delivery. Approved plain English rules set the stores queue, priority and escalation.
KitProof
When parts go out as kits, KitProof turns approved plain English component rules into each kit's expected parts and quantities, then checks every scan against that plan before the kit leaves the bench.
BEFORE YOU START
A few practical answers.
Can several people count at once?
One person controls a count at a time, on one device. To split the work, run a separate count for each area and combine the downloaded results in your own system. There is no shared cloud count or multi-user sign-off.
Can I keep counts between sessions?
Choose Save on this device and the count stays in this browser until you delete it. Use a temporary session on shared computers. Download a project backup to move a count to another device or keep a copy.
Does it track stock between counts?
No. CountBench has no live stock levels, movements, purchasing or valuation. Keep using your stock system for those, and use CountBench to check what is physically there.
What are the current limits?
CountBench records whole-number counts of what is physically present. It is not a stock system: there are no live stock levels, adjustments, valuation, purchasing, lot, serial or expiry tracking, and nothing is written back to your ERP. One person controls a count at a time, on one device. Imports are UTF-8 CSV up to 5 MiB, with up to 10,000 catalogue items, 10,000 expected rows and 500 locations per count. Camera scanning, RFID, scales and scanner apps are not supported.
What happens to my data?
Your count stays in this browser. Save on this device keeps it between visits; a temporary session keeps it only while the tab is open. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose Email me these results, which sends only the files you select and deletes them after sending. No account or contact details are needed to count or download. Google Analytics is optional and loads only after you accept; it never receives codes, quantities, locations or file contents. Use Analytics settings to change your choice; see /privacy/.
